Summary of Duties – Workshop Manager (Engineering Manager):
- To support and deputise for the Head of Engineering.
- Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out to the standard required.
- Ensuring that all maintenance is correctly certified and that the records of maintenance carried out are retained electronically for the statutory period.
- Ensuring that all work undertaken is within that defined in the capability list and that associated contracts are acceptable with respect to customer responsibility for provision of necessary facilities, airworthiness data and access for inspection.
- The development of staff through a programme of training, ensuring that all are competent, trained, motivated and available to fulfil the requirements of their respective department operating within budget.
- Assist with the establishment of performance standards.
- Assist with the establishment of Maintenance Procedures and the development of those procedures to meet Part 145 / CAA / EASA and company requirements, so meeting company objectives and ensuring that any workforce [to include sub-contractors] under his control is adhering to these.
- To plan, organise and control maintenance activities, ensuring that all work carried out by Argo MRT on aircraft airframes/components is to a high standard and complies with Part 145 and company maintenance procedures set out in Part 2 of the company exposition.
- Ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out in an efficient manner by effective management.
- Responsible for ensuring that any corrective actions, resulting from discrepancies or audit findings raised, are analysed and addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that all maintenance work undertaken at all customer locations, is carried out to an acceptable standard and complies with Part 145 maintenance procedures set out in Part 2 of this Exposition.
- Ensuring the safe & efficient operation of the company to minimise the down time of customer assets.
- Ensuring that all work done under his/her control is consistent with the purchase order and that any work in excess of that requested in the purchase order is authorised by the customer in writing and/ or that concessions have been obtained wherever required.
- Undertaking any other duties and responsibilities as may be required by senior management from time to time, where such duties will not conflict with the primary function and responsibilities as set out above.
- The administration and economic running of the maintenance organisation including budget forecasts for all services under his control, so long as CAA/EASA requirements are met.
- Assist with the review of occurrence reports and raising MOR’s as applicable and promotion/Day to management of SMS related activities.
- Review of training and assessment of competence of both permanent staff and sub-contractors before recommendation for company authorisation.
- Ensuring continued training and competency assessment of certifying staff.
Additional Duties:
When required, liaise with the regulatory bodies on all matters affecting maintenance and its policy.
- Ensuring adequate contractual arrangements exist.
- When required, ensure the provision of suitable maintenance facilities, offices, storage facilities, materials, tools to perform the tasks and sufficient competent and qualified personnel to plan, perform, supervise, inspect and certify in relation to the work undertaken.
- When required, ensure that the necessary maintenance data, as required by Part 145.A.45, is made available by the customer and to ensure safe storage of the organisation’s technical records.
- Ensuring that any contract for services provides for a working environment appropriate to the tasks being undertaken.
- Ensuring that all due maintenance is performed on time and in accordance with the applicable requirements, regulations and approved standards.
- For identifying deficiencies that emerge which require attention in respect of safety, finance and the acceptability of standards.
- Monitoring performance against the standards defined above, analysing deviations and ensuring corrective actions are taken.
- Ensuring that all sub-contracted orders are correctly detailed and that the requirements of the contract / order are fulfilled.
- Assist with the final selection of applicants for positions within the company.
- Supervising and coordinating the training and development of senior staff and promoting the improvement and development of working methods and systems.
- Ensuring that tooling/test and ground equipment is maintained, kept in a serviceable condition and checked for calibration when required.
- Provision and recording of a system of quality and surveillance checks on sub-contractors where required.
- Preparing standard practices and procedures for use within the organisation, derived from approved sources, and keeping them up to date.
- He/she is responsible for the implementation of the safety policy and human factor issues;
- He/she is responsible to provide a common work card or worksheet system to be used / format of inspection report and ensure such documents comply with 145.A.45 (e)
- Chairing the weekly capacity planning/operational meeting
