Argo Aviation have an exceptional opportunity for a highly-motivated career focused and ambitious Senior Manufacturing Engineer seeking a role in a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding environment.

The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is to ensure that there is clear communication between our production / process engineers and the manufacturing team to ensure that any composite components entering into the production environment match requirements and can be manufactured to the estimated hours. The Manufacturing Engineer is involved at an early stage of the process to ensure the correct tooling choices are discussed and agreed and to ensure compliance with all policy and procedures are maintained during a structured handover into production.

Job Description

The role of the Senior Manufacturing Engineer is to facilitate clear communication between our engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that all products meet customer requirements and can be manufactured to the estimated budget. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is involved throughout the design / manufacturing process, using their experience and knowledge to influence choices and decision made; be it relating to tooling, material, manufacturing techniques and of course repeatability and continuous improvements.

Key aspects:

  • To be involved at Bid/Estimating Stage, contributing to manufacturing capabilities, cost collection and scheduling ensuring production estimates for hours and materials are both accurate and reflective of current processes.
  • To promote manufacturing capabilities to new and existing customers,
  • To work with wider team to optimise designs and manufacturing techniques to ensure product can be manufacturing safely, effectively and to budget.
  • Planning and generation of route cards
  • To be involved or take lead in design and manufacture of tooling, jigs and production aids to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement activities through any stage of the product life cycle using lean tools and techniques to maximise efficiency and reduce waste.
  • To lead appropriate RCCA to ensure correct mitigations are applied to reduce repeat non-conformance.
  • Where necessary, write and update documentation and process plans.
  • To work closely with the production team members to support first-off manufacture and improvement initiatives.
  • To lead materials review board meetings and carry out any engineering related actions required to support the production teams.


Qualifications / Candidate

  • Apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a complex manufacturing environment
  • Ideally to have an understanding or experience with composites
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Enthusiasm for work and delivering results
