Argo Aviation have an exceptional opportunity for a highly-motivated career focused and ambitious Senior Avionics Engineer seeking a role in a challenging, fast-paced and rewarding environment.

The role is to ensure the successful integration of often complex avionic systems into new and existing aircraft platforms. The Integrated Project Team manages the whole lifecycle from requirements capture, detail design, liaising with manufacturing and installation, assisting with test, collecting verification evidence and proving compliance.

Your responsibilities in this role, please apply if you satisfy most of the following:

  • Identify suitable sub-systems architecture to satisfy the requirements
  • Identify any development equipment and develop key requirements for a Statement of Work for Suppliers
  • Evaluation of equipment qualification standards and assessment for suitability
  • Must have held or be able to demonstrate experience to hold a check signature for technical reports /proposals
  • Have experience in understanding, developing and assuring avionic system architectures.
  • Have sound understanding of certification and validation methods for Avionic systems and be able to identify the appropriate Means of Compliance
  • Interpreting OEM data such as ICDs and specifications
  • Experience designing for compliance, producing test plans and testing at equipment and platform level, within one or more of the specialisms (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance Systems, RF design, ISR systems, EMI/EMC, Electrical Load Analysis)
  • Work both alone and collaboratively within a high performing team delivering innovative solutions in a dynamic environment with demanding timescales.
  • Apply sound systems engineering thinking to all aspects of work.
  • Have the ability to apply skills and knowledge across a wide and diverse range of projects: able to learn, adapt to and apply unfamiliar engineering fundamentals and concepts
  • Hold understanding of product safety, certification and airworthiness environments
  • Identify, communicate and mitigate project technical risks
  • Have good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with energy and enthusiasm to all levels within and without the business.

Desirable:

  • Review design outputs of others to ensure the quality of solutions.
  • Be experienced in planning and delivering multi discipline integration tasks to schedule and budget across several projects and priorities
  • Comfortable with direction and development of similar discipline engineers
  • Experience in spearheading a small multi-discipline team
  • Management of 3rd party hardware and software development using RTCA/DO-178 software and RTCA/DO-254 hardware or equivalent processes
  • Implementing laboratory (Rig) /aircraft work and fault finding techniques
  • Experience designing for compliance to, producing test plans and testing at equipment and platform level, within one or more of the specialisms (Lighting protection, HIRF protection or TEMPEST) is desired

Qualifications and Experience:

Demonstrable experience working as a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer with hands-on experience in the Aerospace and Defence sectors. Experience outside of Aerospace and Defence in other relevant sectors will be an advantage. Our Client is seeking people with the ability to make a difference and pro-actively guide their Systems Engineering approach to large and complex project work

  • Qualified to degree level in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics with relevant and sufficient experience in the field. Alternative qualifications and or experience will be considered
