About the Client
Our client operates from one of the largest aircraft maintenance facilities in West London, spanning 13,400 square meters. The site is fully equipped to perform all aspects of aircraft undercarriage maintenance and repair, including machining, bush manufacturing, NDT, electrical harness repair, hydraulic, and plating services. With 99% of capability handled in-house, subcontracting is minimal, ensuring high efficiency and quality control.
Role Overview
Argo Aviation are seeking a skilled Plant Maintenance Engineer to provide general mechanical maintenance and electrical support within our clients maintenance department. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the maintenance and repair of all equipment and facility areas, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair all equipment and facility areas to agreed standard, with the ability to identify detailed faults.
- With a given product line, supporting new customer development
- Development of the cost base, from technical perspective supporting the sale process – use of internal engineering expertise to understand technical scope effect on the standard cost base
- Complete daily checks to machines and equipment, including statuary checks, within skills capabilities and skills approvals.
- To work shift, and provide out of hour call in support.
- Identify spares required in proactive timescales.
- All duties shall be undertaken in compliance with Safety, Environmental Regulations and Company procedures.
- An awareness and understanding of responsibilities outlined in our clients Company environmental procedures.
Education & Qualifications
- Preferred mechanical or electrical qualification
- Apprenticeship preferred but not essential
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience preferably within a similar role within plant maintenance
- Candidate should have significant relevant aerospace experience ideally within the aircraft MRO environment.
- Mechanical/electrical background
- Working at heights
- Knowledge of pipework (PVC)
- Good understanding of pumps & motors
- Preferred understanding of gas ovens / chiller units / rectifiers
- Preferred understanding of air handling units / air conditioning
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to work under pressure with the minimum of supervision
- Copes well under pressure and can deliver what is required
- Can deal with contractors whilst on site
Working Conditions
- The position requires understanding of working conditions and environment in a COMAH SITE.
- The position requires from time to time flexibility in working hours including working overtime at weekends.
- The nature of the job requires the applicant to come into contact with various greases and oils.
- The position involves the training and use of overhead cranes.
- The job requires the applicant to understand manual handling.
- The job requires the use of hand tools and power tools.
- The ability to keep your working area clean and tidy and to a high standard.
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK unrestricted
- Mandatory Training will be required
- The job requires the applicant to stand for a prolonged amount of time with a number of breaks throughout the day.
- The position and process involves lifting heavy aircraft components.
- The position requires the applicant to use maintenance components requiring good physical strength.
