The Client:
Our client is a UK-based provider of line, light, and base maintenance services for commercial aircraft operators. They operate 24/7, offering AOG support, workshop facilities, aircraft modification programs, technical training, tooling hire, and component repair.
Part of a global aviation group, the company supports numerous airlines worldwide and operates from multiple UK locations, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
About the Role:
The Inspector will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with production, planning, and engineering teams within the workshops. This role is responsible for carrying out incoming, in-process, and final inspections of aircraft components, parts, and assemblies in line with approved documentation, procedures, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections of aircraft components, parts, and assemblies, including release to service.
- Interpret engineering drawings, approved repair data, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, fit, and condition using calibrated inspection tools and equipment.
- Carry out visual inspections for wear, corrosion, damage, cracking, deformation, and other defects.
- Confirm material, process, and traceability documentation aligns to job requirements.
- Complete inspection records, job cards, certificates, and release packs accurately.
- Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support investigations and corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits by providing objective evidence and maintaining compliant records.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, human factors awareness, and standard workshop controls.
- Maintain a clean and tidy personal work area and workshop facilities.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably requested by management.
Working Conditions:
- Workshop-based role with exposure to standard industrial workshop environment.
- Use of precision measuring tools and inspection equipment regularly.
- Occasional requirement to work outside standard hours during busy periods.
Education & Qualifications:
- Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent).
- Inspection-related training desirable.
- Experience within an EASA Part 145 or Part 21 environment advantageous.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven inspection experience in an aerospace or mechanical environment.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, quality standards, and aerospace tolerances.
- Confident using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, CMMs).
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and make timely, fact-based decisions.
- Methodical, detail-focused, and quality-driven.
- High standard of English (written and spoken).
- Strong computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
