Role Overview

Argo Aviation International is proud to present an exciting opportunity for a 2 x B1 Licensed Engineers / Duty Managers to join our client at London Luton Airport.

This position plays a key role in overseeing daily operational activities, ensuring the safe and efficient running of the station. The Duty Manager will balance technical, supervisory, and administrative duties – leading a team of engineers, managing workloads, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering staff, including onboarding and training of new team members.
• Encourage a positive safety culture, promoting hazard reporting and risk awareness.
• Manage shift activities to ensure effective use of manpower and timely defect clearance.
• Conduct staff appraisals, support career development, and maintain team motivation.
• Ensure the line station is maintained to a clean, safe, and efficient standard.

Operational & Planning

• Oversee daily workload, production planning, and shift management.
• Review customer work requests, ensuring manpower, tooling, and spares requirements are in place.
• Support customer airlines in achieving on-time performance targets.
• Maintain accurate records, including production plans, handover diaries, station reports, and customer updates.

Regulatory Compliance & Budget Control

• Ensure compliance with CAA, EASA, and Part-145 regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date awareness of technical instructions and procedures.
• Monitor health & safety obligations and escalate issues as required.
• Manage overtime requirements and cost control, reporting any overspends or savings opportunities.

Communication & Customer Relations

• Act as the main point of contact for customer MOC, providing updates on aircraft serviceability.
• Ensure clear communication across shifts and with interfacing departments.
• Deputise for the Station Manager when required, representing the station at meetings and briefings.

Education & Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship in aircraft engineering (or equivalent qualification).
• UK CAA B1 Licence (A320 type rating essential, with 6 months’ recency in the last 2 years).

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ certifying experience.
• Proven experience: base / line maintenance expertise on commercial aircraft.
• Supervisory or managerial experience in a CAA/EASA regulated environment.
• Excellent team leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance production planning.
